Keeping hydrated is something homeless people can struggle with every day, especially during the summer.
Dehydration can cause fatigue, headache, low mood, mental & physical decline, poor attention, poor memory and lack of motor coordination.
In more serious cases it can cause blood thickening, kidneys retaining water, thicker blood puts stress on the cardiovascular system which raises the heart rate to maintain blood pressure.
When the body is ‘pushed’ by exercise or heat, the risk of exhaustion and collapse increases. It can also cause hyperthermia (a body temperature greatly above normal) as the body’s ability to regulate temperature is hindered.
If you can help by donating 1 or 2 500ml bottles of water we would help to keep our homeless clients safe.
